The Benefits of Meditation that you can expect ?


 

balanceWhen looking at the benefits of meditation you will find that balance is the main benefit you will receive. Balance of the mind and from that balance in your emotions and also in your body.

You will also see that meditation is not only used in spiritual practices but also has become an important factor in the treatment and prevention of many stress-related conditions. As well as it has been shown to help with many illnesses. For example,

1. anxiety disorders (stress)

2. substance abuse recovery

3. Ulcers and chronic pain

4. High Blood pressure

5. Reduce the chance of Heart Attack and Stroke

6. Help with Asthma

7. Many neurological problems such as Parkinsons, epilepsy as well as people who suffer from fatigue and a complete lack of energy.

In the area of depression a group of researchers in 2000 published a study that found that eight weekly sessions of mindfulness meditation halved the rate of relapse in people with three or more episodes of depression. Later together with Jon Kabat-Zinn, they wrote a popular book, "The Mindful Way Through Depression."

 

Also Meditation can alter resting brain patterns, this means that it can cause long lasting brain changes. A new study from Yale University, Massachusetts General Hospital, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology shows that meditation is also associated with increased cortical thickness.

These changes were found in areas of the brain that deal with sensory, cognitive, emotional processing and internal perception, which is your heart rate and breathing. The means that regular meditation practice may slow age-related thinning of the frontal cortex.
